Atemi Letters
About the Publication

The Perspective.

Atemi Letters is an independent editorial publication based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Its focus is the documentation of everyday supplementation habits, nutritional awareness, and active lifestyle choices for men — approached with editorial rigour and a consistent evidence-informed perspective.

01 — Origin

Where This Record Began.

Atemi Letters began as a private observation log — a journalist's habit of documenting what was actually being done, rather than what was theoretically recommended. The founding editor, Marcus Chen, had maintained a supplement journal for several years before the question arose of whether that documented practice might be useful to others navigating the same territory.

The territory in question: men's daily supplementation. A category that attracts more promotional noise and fewer careful editorial records than almost any other area of nutritional publishing. The observation that the published evidence on certain compounds — vitamin D, magnesium, omega-3, creatine — was considerably more measured and conditional than the supplement industry's framing of those same compounds motivated the decision to publish editorially.

Atemi Letters launched in January 2026 as a small-run independent publication. The editorial premise was straightforward: document what the published nutritional research actually records, apply it to an evidence-informed daily practice, and report that practice without promotional embellishment or unjustified claims.

02 — What We Stand For

Four Editorial Commitments.

01
Evidence-Informed Selection

Every article begins with what the published nutritional research actually records — not what a supplement brand claims or what a promotional editorial asserts. Sources are cited where available, and the distinction between what the research shows and what the editor observes is kept explicit.

02
Editorial Independence

Atemi Letters is not affiliated with any supplement brand, wellness company, or institutional body. Writers disclose any commercial relationships that might influence subject selection. No editorial decision is made on the basis of commercial arrangement.

03
Documented Practice

The journal format — documenting real habits over real periods of time — is not incidental. It reflects the conviction that supplement habits are most usefully understood through sustained observation rather than single-session testing or theoretical recommendation. The observation journal is the primary unit of editorial content.

04
Measured Register

The editorial voice of Atemi Letters is observational and reportorial rather than promotional. No supplement is described as a solution. No compound is positioned as a shortcut. The language of the publication is the language of careful documentation — which is the only register appropriate to the subject.

Marcus Chen

Founding Editor

Marcus Chen has written on men's nutrition, active lifestyle routines, and the intersection of evidence-informed practice with everyday habit-building for over eight years. Prior to founding Atemi Letters, he contributed supplement reviews and editorial features to several independent wellness publications operating across Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.

His background is in documentary writing rather than nutritional science — a distinction he considers relevant to the publication's editorial approach. The editorial lens is a journalist's, not a researcher's: it documents what is actually observed, cross-references that documentation with the published literature, and reports both with precision and without embellishment.

He maintains a daily supplement routine that has been the source material for several of the publication's field-note pieces. His current stack centres on vitamin D, magnesium, omega-3, and creatine — compounds whose published evidence base he considers among the most consistent in the men's supplement category.
